History

Kaffa Roastery was created by two guys who wanted to start a cafe in Helsinki, serving the best coffee that could be produced. Fast they realized that it was impossible to get fresh roasted coffee of that quality in Finland, so the only way was to start their own roastery. From homeroasters with popcornpoppers to a real coffeeroastery was a long and bumpy road, and "learning by burning" was their way of finding the perfect roasts. After burning a lot of coffee in Korso, Kaffa Roastery moved in December 2009 to Punavuori in central Helsinki. Mainly on Tuesdays you can inhale the odour of freshly roasted estate coffees in the neighborhood.

Everyone who has been passioned about something knows what the endless struggle for perfectionism is. For us it is about finding the perfect cup of coffee. All our coffees has a story to tell, and this story is the most important part of our coffees. You will not like every coffee that we serve, but you will for sure be surprised by every one of them.

Kaffa tries to break the myth that it is the roaster that makes the coffee. The roaster is only the person that tries to bring forth the perfect roast for that coffee just so you can taste how the variety, the ambition of the farmer, the terroire and the climate has affected the coffee.

Den livslånga jakten

Vi håller på och jobbar på den svenska versionen av vår nätbutik. Naturligtvis har vi service på svenska, finska och engelska på plats.

Varje människa som någonsin brunnit för något vet vad den ändlösa jakten handlar om. Oavsett om det handlar om fågelskådning, vinprovning, frimärkssamlande, hunduppfödning, virkning eller bergsklättring så är passion en ändlös jakt efter det perfekta.

För vår del handlar det om att hitta den perfekta koppen kaffe. Men det är resan som är det viktiga, inte målet. Livet skulle bli trist om vi en dag hittade det perfekta kaffet. Det är lika omöjligt som att någon skulle kunna utnämna Mona Lisa till den perfekta tavlan. För smak och tycke är olika mellan oss alla. I synnerhet när gränserna tänjs, nya smaker utforskas och kompromisser är uteslutna.

Kanske blir du inte bästa vän med varenda kaffesort som Kaffa erbjuder. Men vi är säkra på att du blir imponerad av dem alla.
