History
Kaffa Roastery was created by two guys who wanted to start a cafe in Helsinki, serving the best coffee that could be produced. Fast they realized that it was impossible to get fresh roasted coffee of that quality in Finland, so the only way was to start their own roastery. From homeroasters with popcornpoppers to a real coffeeroastery was a long and bumpy road, and "learning by burning" was their way of finding the perfect roasts. After burning a lot of coffee in Korso, Kaffa Roastery moved in December 2009 to Punavuori in central Helsinki. Mainly on Tuesdays you can inhale the odour of freshly roasted estate coffees in the neighborhood.
Coffees
Everyone who has been passioned about something knows what the endless struggle for perfectionism is. For us it is about finding the perfect cup of coffee. All our coffees has a story to tell, and this story is the most important part of our coffees. You will not like every coffee that we serve, but you will for sure be surprised by every one of them.
Kaffa tries to break the myth that it is the roaster that makes the coffee. The roaster is only the person that tries to bring forth the perfect roast for that coffee just so you can taste how the variety, the ambition of the farmer, the terroire and the climate has affected the coffee.
